The abbreviation VOC refers to volatile organic compounds. The VOC group of substances includes, for example, hydrocarbons, alcohols and organic acids. VOCs are practically always present in indoor air. As a rule, the concentrations of individual VOCs in indoor spaces are relatively low and there is then no need to worry about adverse health effects. The individual VOCs can have very different effects on human health. These range from odor nuisance and irritation of the respiratory tract and eyes to acute effects and long-term effects. Some of these substances can cause cancer, damage genetic material or impair reproduction.
VOC-free
Possible sources of indoor VOCs include the storage of building products or interior furnishings, such as flooring, wall and ceiling materials, paints, coatings, adhesives and furniture. The volatile organic compounds enter indoor air from surfaces when solvents evaporate and liquid or paste products dry. But they can also escape into the air from solid products, such as plastics or other materials. To avoid VOCs indoors, low-emission products should be used.
With ipox epoxy hardeners (ipox EH), the properties of epoxy resin systems can be individually determined - fast or slow, hard or impact resistant, low viscosity or high viscosity, hydrophilic or hydrophobic, low VOC or VOC-free. ipox offers a broad product portfolio of VOC-free hardeners to keep emissions as low as possible.

Die Reduzierung der Emissionen durch VOC ist ein wichtiges Ziel für alle chemischen Anwendungen. ipox stellt hier eine Vielzahl ausgewählter Rohstoffe zur Formulierung VOC-freier (engl. VOC-free) Epoxidtechnologien zur Verfügung.
Die Kombination eines Epoxidharzes mit einem aminischen Härter ist in der Industrie für die einzigartigen Eigenschaften, die solche Systeme bieten, bekannt. Oberflächenbeschichtungen weisen hohe mechanischen Festigkeiten auf, sind kratzfest, UV beständig, haften sehr gut auf Metall. Bei selbstnivellierenden Bodenbelägen werden Reaktivverdünner sehr oft zugesetzt, um die Viskosität des Epoxidharzes zu senken und eine gute Verarbeitbarkeit zu gewährleisten. In Kombination mit reaktiv verdünntem Epoxidharz werden zur Aushärtung modifizierte Amine eingesetzt, je nach gewünschten Anwendungseigenschaften, Verarbeitbarkeit und Oberflächenqualität.
Die hier verwendeten aminischen Härter, enthalten oft einen hohen Anteil an Benzylalkohol, der benötigt wird, um eine niedrige Viskosität für das gesamte System zu erzielen. Dieses trägt aber zu erhöhten Emissionen von flüchtigen organischen Verbindungen bei. Um diesen Nachteil zu überwinden, hat ipox neue VOC-freie Härter entwickelt. Diese VOC freien Härter enthalten keinen Benzylalkohol oder andere Lösemittel.
